Soul Music: Angie McMahon’s Keeping Time

Music has been instrumental in my recovery. It has the power to transform my mood, and remains one of the few things I will always enjoy, regardless of my mental health status. A couple of times a week I will be sharing the joy – the music that has been good for my soul.

I only recently heard Angie McMahon’s latest album, Salt, and it has been on repeat since. This song must be my favorite, and its lyrics spoke to me:

Now I’m keeping time, or at least I’m learning how to
I’m taking flight or at least I’m just about to
All the ways we can bruise are of use to us
And all the things I have burnt, I have learnt their cost
Oh, there’s cracks in me, oh, the cracks in me
